01 — The Retreat

Wooden cabin nestled in evening fog

Cabin No. 04 — designed by Studio Maen

Sixty-two acres of oak, water,
and quiet on purpose.

HALLOW began in a small clearing above Glen Ellen, where a thermal spring had been quietly surfacing for a thousand years. Our founders — a builder, an architect, and a somatic practitioner — spent two seasons listening before they drew a single line.

What followed is not a hotel. It is eighteen cabins of stone and pale wood, a bathhouse over the spring, a sauna in the forest, and a daily rhythm shaped by the breath. We hold space for people who arrive tired and leave returned.

05 — What we believe

We do not hurry the body.
We invite it, and we wait.

— The HALLOW manifesto

  • I

Rest is not the absence of work. It is its own labor, and it is sacred.

  • II

The body keeps a record. We make space for it to be read, and to be put down.

  • III

Silence is a treatment. We hold it the way one holds a held note.

  • IV

The land was here first. We tread softly, build slowly, and ask the springs permission.

  • V

A guest is not a customer. A guest is someone we have asked to come home for a while.

06 — Guests

What is said,
after.

I arrived speaking in lists and left speaking in sentences. Three nights at HALLOW did what three months of trying could not.
